How to Make Purchases Using Your Capital One Mastercard

In a store, you can make purchases using your Capital One Mastercard by:

  • Tapping or holding the card over a payment terminal (also called contactless payments). Contactless payments are one of the most secure ways to pay. We’re unable to remove the tap feature on our Capital One Mastercard.
  • Inserting the chip side of the card into the payment terminal and then entering a four-digit personal identification number (PIN) if prompted.
  • Swiping the card using the magnetic stripe through the payment terminal.

For online purchases, you can enter your credit card information in the payment details to make purchases.
