Why Did My Credit Score Change

Your credit score is calculated based on a number of factors, such as your payment history, available credit, the number and age of credit accounts you have open, and your credit activity. Any changes to these factors will impact your credit score. For example, if you don’t pay your bills on time or if you’re maxing out your credit cards, your credit score could drop. On the other hand, if you consistently make your payments on time or keep your credit card balances as low as possible, your score could improve.

To see what’s impacting your score, check your Credit Keeper® account in the mobile app, through your online banking account or online. Even if you don’t have a Capital One card, you can still sign up for Credit Keeper and monitor your credit score.
